Conceptually, my interest in working with blown glass comes from testing and pushing to the limit the possibilities that the technique, or its perception by the general public, has.
Subverting has always been an initial desire in any project in which Lota studio works.
The object named UNTITLED I focused on the concept of what a mold for blown glass is and how to transgress its perception through different materialities.
In this specific piece, It were chosen different materials: a conic rock, that is generaly used for tumbling to smooth finishes and pre fabricated aluminum pieces. Those pieces puted together in a specific way served as a mold that received the blown glass, at the same time acting as a delimiting agent for expansion and fusing with the blown material, becoming part of the final graphic texture of the piece.
Pre-fabricated Aluminium pieces of different industries, stone to tumbling smooth finishes, powdered color & blown glass
